ABOUT US

MISSION

Identify health needs and priorities, work with other organizations to develop strategies to address them, and evaluate the impact of these efforts.

ABOUT US

The Northwest Florida Health Council is a non-profit health planning organization serving Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Walton counties since 1969. The Council is governed by twenty-one concerned citizens who are appointed by the fourteen county commissions in the region.

The focus is to promote access to quality health care services and to improve the health of the community by facilitating coordination, collaboration and communication among health care providers, consumers, and other stakeholders.

The Northwest Florida Health Council works closely with other organizations and agencies to identify health needs and priorities, develop strategies and action plans to address them, and evaluate the impact of these efforts. It also provides technical assistance, training, and educational resources to health care providers and consumers.

Some of the programs and initiatives that the Northwest Florida Health Council has implemented or supported include:

  • Health care access and affordability: The Council advocates for policies and programs that increase access to affordable health care, including Medicaid expansion, telehealth, and community health centers.

  • Health literacy and consumer engagement: The Council provides education and resources to help consumers make informed decisions about their health care, including understanding insurance coverage, accessing preventive services, and managing chronic conditions.

Overall, the Northwest Florida Health Council plays a critical role in promoting the health and well-being of the communities it serves, by fostering collaboration and innovation across the health care system.
